Happy First Anniversary to us!

This past weekend, Heath and I celebrated our first anniversary and spent some time reconnecting. We enjoyed some quality time together instead of diligently working on our never ending “to-do” list.

Friday night was the first date night we’ve had in awhile .. our favorite, a movie night at Alamo. While drinking my lemonade isn’t quite the same as a glass of wine, I do still enjoy the whole experience of eating something during a movie that’s good for me or at the very least leaves me feeling better than a giant tub of buttered popcorn does. We saw Land of the Lost and it was the typical Will Ferrell movie – very cute, dumb humor and enjoyable.

Saturday - We did manage to squeeze in one item on our to-do list. Graeme came over to do the electrical work on this infamous wall (post to come soon), which is the only thing Heath wouldn’t take on completely on his own. Turns out this was a good thing b/c there was lots of talk about Code and Fire Blocks and other things that weren’t familiar to me or Heath. I had expected this to take longer so I had made plans to shop at Tuesday morning and get a pedicure with Courtney – both were so great! I can’t exactly reach my feet these days, so having someone else make my toes look pretty was very nice :) We even stopped by Sonic for a slushy (my new favorite thing along with sno-cones – It’s HOT here!). After my girl-date, I made my way home and we took several hours to decide if we’d get out to the lake or not. We did! It was a late arrival and the lake is SOOO low .. we had to take detours around these giant islands that have surfaced in the middle of the lake! Pretty crazy, but Mali joined us for our Anniversary cruise. It was a fun evening on Lake Travis which is one of my favorite places to be. Mali & Heath enjoying the spot we anchored in the sun.
Sunday – Our Anniversary – we spent a lazy morning at home just the two of us with our zoo of animals. We decided to get out of the house by mid afternoon to accomplish one more task – looking for a glider for the nursery. After a trip to USA Baby in South Austin, we managed to get nothing other than the knowledge that baby stuff is expensive! We made our way back north to BabiesRUs and not only decided on a glider we liked, but made the purchase. Super exciting way to spend an anniversary, but we made it home with enough time for a quick nap on the couch (for me) and to water the lawn (Heath) before our dinner plans at the Steiner Ranch Steakhouse. We had some great food and the view was, in fact, amazing. We joked throughout the day that if we can survive our first year of marriage, that surely we can handle anything. In our first year, we’ve managed to make it through buying a home, selling a home, juggling two mortgages in the middle, losing a job, living with two teenage girls, pregnancy, and starting a new business. Year 2 .. bring it! We’re ready ;)

Happy Anniversary, baby … I love you more today than I did last year on the beach in St Thomas!!
